Most complicated?
Let's see if I can give you a few other pointer that might help. Let's start with the basics. Most pattern instructions suggest that you start in the center of the design.
Looking for a pattern
My 2nd oldest brother's adoptive parents agreed to hire and pay for a family court invesigator to help us look. It's been a long hard road so far... The sad thing is...
daylight lamps
daylight lamps That's probably what I need... a lamp that would help me see what I am doing better and the magnifying part would be of a help too... as long as the light didn't show a glare jemoelle
Frames
Frames I'm glad I could help you look at it a different way. They DO help you look at things from a different perspective. I learn something new almost every time I log onto one!
Metallics
Metallics Sorry I can't help you out here but it's something that I would be interested in learning more about also... hopefully someone can help :) jemoelle
Need a bit of advice
It not only helps with knowing which thread to use, but also helps you to "keep your place" better. As for finding the thread... (SALE is my favorite word!!)
gift for your little self
gift for your little self I didn't get a baby doll until I was like 9 or 10, so I think I would make a nice doll and give it to myself. I think it might have helped me to be more nurturing, and possibly have helped me be a better parent. mamab
Happy Dance Finish
Happy Dance Finish Thank you for all your kind thoughts and for letting me talk about this on here. Things are starting to get a little bit better. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Need Help Please
Need Help Please Thanks for asking!! I've recieved the practice pieces and have laundered them (to reduce shrinking after being stitched and then washed), and I've pulled all of my suitable alphabet patterns, now all I have to do is print out the list of quotes she wants stitched and choose what to put on each practice piece... It sounds easy, I've gotten really great help so far and have read some of the articles here, so I think I can handle this.
Need Help Please
Need Help Please I've been asked to stitch selected quotes onto cotton quest towels (whatever they are, have no clue) and handkerchiefs (both ladies and mens)I've never used waste canvas, have never done anything like this before. Need major help with this.... anyone have any ideas/tips/advice, etc?Thank you so much ahead of time!!
Something you're looking for
Something you're looking for I'm glad I could help! I love to search on the internet, and wish I could get paid to do so. I also like helping other people, so it's a win-win situation when I get to do it.
crafts group
crafts group I have had a "get together" when getting things ready for the mother-daughter banquet... the ladies have a great time helping out and I can use all the help I can get!!! lolHislamb hislamb
Best places to buy?
Hobby Lobby has a coupon you can find online for 40% off one item quite often... That is a big help on expensive items. Although we do not have a Joann's in our area, I understand they also have coupons...
Losing Place in chart
There's room to mark the thread color number and its corresponding symbol. Just keep a bundle of needles on hand and thread one for each color of thread in your project. (If anyone doesn't know what park and stitch is, you park a needle and thread you are using by attaching it out of the way on the fabric, while you stitch with another needle and thread.)
Need Your Opinion
I do know if you're doing an ornament (not the box that's shown in the link) then just regular perforated paper would work really well!! Just cut the perforated paper into a square a little bit bigger than the ornament design. Stitch the ornament like you normally would, you may have to use extra strands of DMC to make sure the paper doesn't show through though....
Random Question #5
Random Question #5 I have seriously thought about enlarging my patterns on a copy machine by about 25%. Do you think that would be something you could do to help you handle that problem? mamab
Barnyard Kitties WIP Update
Barnyard Kitties WIP Update I just uploaded an updated pic of my Barnyard Kitties. I'll be posting an updated pic on either Sunday night or Monday morning to see what I was able to do this weekend. Thanks to everyone on the board!!
Need Your Opinion
Need Your Opinion I would like to do this project on a smaller count and make it into a Christmas ornament. I thought that maybe I should stitch it on the paper so I could trim the edges... http://www.michaels.com/art/online/projectsheet?
Downloaded Pictures!
I have a picture started on black and it is harder. I bought one of those up lights and it really does help you to see the holes better. Thank you for your kind comments.
Random Question #3
Random Question #3 sagemother, I truly admire you for helping to create those last few warm moments between the mother and her son. mamab, 28 ct aida?? I have a hard enough time with 22 ct aida.
Random Question #3
Random Question #3 That's good that you could help that young man have something to share with his mom at that point in his life. I'm sure his mom really appreciated it. I think my toughtest is the dragon I started for my husband when we were first married.
What's The Toughest Project You've Worked On?
What's The Toughest Project You've Worked On? WHAT'S THE TOUGHEST PROJECT YOU'VE EVER WORKED ON?? The dark fabric makes it hard to see, and it's dark floss on dark fabric which doesn't help...
What are your neddlework plans for Christmas?
What are your neddlework plans for Christmas? I'm not into quilting, but I'd presume you take different fabrics that have special meaning to them - a swatch of fabric from your grandmother's wedding gown, the handkerchief from your father's wedding day, swatches of fabric from different children's clothing. Then, I'm guessing they cross stitch an explanation on the fabric to help people remember.
What are your neddlework plans for Christmas?
What are your neddlework plans for Christmas? ornament sound like a fun idea... I haven't even thought about it yet but may go look at the store and see if I can find something to have my grandson help me with to decorate his room at our house:) jemoelle
New stitch???
The secret is to wrap the thread in the same direction every time keep a bit of tension on the thread while inserting the needle back through. If your knots are pulling through, the problem is one of two things. The other problem is that some people simply pull too hard in an attempt to tighten the knot.
